Before the operation, the boy hugged his dog, but suddenly the dog jumped out of bed and attacked one of the doctors: everyone was horrified, realizing the reason for the dog’s strange behavior
There was silence in the small ward. The five-year-old boy was lying on a snow-white sheet, his eyes were huge and tired. Doctors told his parents that surgery was his last chance.
The nurses were preparing him for anesthesia, and suddenly the boy quietly whispered:
— Can… Archie come to see me?
—Who is Archie, honey? — one of the nurses was surprised.
— My dog. I miss you very much. Please… — the boy’s lips trembled.
—You know, honey, animals aren’t allowed in the hospital. You are already very weak, understand… — she tried to explain.
The boy turned away, and tears flashed in the corners of his eyes:
— But I… I may never see him again.
These words pierced the nurse’s heart. She looked at each other and, unexpectedly for herself, agreed:
— Okay. Just for a minute.
An hour later, Archie’s parents brought him. As soon as the dog saw his owner, he rushed to the bed, jumped in and pressed himself against the boy. For the first time in many weeks, he smiled and hugged the dog tightly.
Doctors and nurses watched this picture with wet eyes: the friendship between man and dog was stronger than pain and fear.
But suddenly Archie became wary. His fur stood on end, he jumped sharply from the bed and rushed to the corner of the room. There was a surgeon standing there who was supposed to perform the operation. The dog barked so furiously that it seemed —about to bite the doctor.
— Remove this creature! — the doctor shouted, recoiling.

There was deathly silence in the ward. The parents turned pale, the nurses looked at each other in horror. Archie continued to growl, as if defending his little master.
A few minutes later everything became clear: the surgeon actually came to the shift while drunk. He was immediately suspended and stripped of his license.
The operation was postponed. The boy was entrusted to another doctor, and a few days later it was successful.
Everyone said later: Archie is not just a faithful friend — he has become a guardian angel. If not for him, the outcome could have been the most tragic.
