Sunlight filtered through tall trees, and the ground was covered in leaves and soft earth. Somewhere between the roots and fallen branches, a young deer lay still.
A net was wrapped tightly around its body and legs.

The fawn didn’t fight anymore. It only breathed fast, eyes wide with fear, waiting for something — anything — to change.
Then, soft footsteps.
A golden retriever appeared between the trees.
The dog slowed down as it saw the deer. It didn’t bark. It didn’t rush. It walked closer, head low, eyes gentle, as if it understood the fear in front of it.
But the dog knew it couldn’t do this alone.
It turned and ran.
Down a narrow mountain trail, an elderly man was jogging slowly, enjoying the quiet of the woods. Suddenly, the golden retriever rushed up to him and gently grabbed his jacket, pulling just enough to get his attention.
The man stopped.
Confused, he looked down at the dog.
The dog turned and ran again — then looked back.
The man followed.
Through trees and over roots, the dog led him deeper into the forest until they reached the net.
The man froze when he saw the young deer trapped on the ground.
He dropped to his knees immediately.
With careful hands, he began loosening the net, pulling strand after strand away from the trembling body. The dog stood beside him, watching silently.
Finally, the last piece fell free.
The deer stood up.
Its legs wobbled for a moment — then it steadied itself. The net lay useless on the forest floor.
The deer took a few steps back, looked at them both, and then disappeared between the trees.
The forest grew quiet again.
The man exhaled.
The dog sat down.
